What are you learning?--Non-fiction Reading

What are you learning from your non-fiction reading? What is the most surprising or interesting thing you've learned so far? What are you wondering about your topic now that you've spent some time reading about it?

  3. The non-fiction book I have been reading is Destination:Jupiter. The most surprising thing is that it takes 11.9 years more Jupiter to orbit around the Sun, Another interesting thing is that Jupiter has nine moons and one and one of them is called Io (EYE-yo) it has more volcanic activity than Earth. What I am wondering about my non-fiction book is how does Galileo come back and get all the information from Jupiter.

  4. I have been reading a non-fiction book, George W. Bush, and I have been learning lots of things. The most surprising thing Ive learned was that George did bad in school and would get whacked. Another interesting thing I learned was that he wanted to be a pilot in World War II. Since I have been reading this non-fiction book, I am wondering how did he know that he wanted to be president, and why did he do a second term as president. I have been learning lots of things in this non-fiction book George W. Bush.

  5. There are some surprising and interesting fact in my Non fiction book Soccer Skills, but I am still wondering of some other facts. Before I started to read my book I yet still didn't know much about soccer, but now that I have been reading a bit more about soccer skills I think I have learned more then last time. One interesting fact that I have learned is that when you are ready to shoot for the target never to look up you always need to look down, because if you look up you may miss the ball or even miss your target. One surprising that U learned about is that everyone needs a style for defense.

  6. There are many surprising, and interesting things that I am learning in my non-fiction book, D-Day Landings. The most surprising thing that I learned was that Hitler got tricked into thinking that the invasion in Normandy was the fake invasion. Another interesting thing that I learned was that Hitler thought that the real invasion was in Calais, but Hitler had it all wrong. Since I've been reading my non-fiction, I am still wondering how did Hitler get tricked into thinking that the real invasion was in Calais, and I also wonder why did he get tricked into thinking that.

  7. I am learning many surprising, and interesting things in my book, MONSTERS. The most interesting thing I learned is that Nessie was thought to have been seen by Christopher Columbus. The most interesting thing that I learned was that Nessie's first sighting was thought to have been in 65 A.D. Because I'm reading about Nessie, I'm wondering if Nessie has ever been confused with something else, and the scientists have said that Nessie is mostly confused with otters that live in the lake.

  8. The non-fiction I have been reading is The Amazing International Space Station. I have learned a lot about this book. The most surprising thing that I read was when the astronauts go to space and answer unanswered questions about space. Since I've been reading the book The Amazing International Space Station I have seen many interesting things about the book. One interesting thing that I read was before astronauts go into space they practice under water, because if you go in water it is the same as going in space.

  9. There are many interesting and suprising facts in my book America's Paul Revere. I've learned many things in my book Ameriica's Paul Revere, I've learned that Paul Revere was bell-ringer when he was fifteen, and Paul joined the army when he was twenty one and he was commissioned as a Second Leiutenent in the army.

  10. The non-fiction book I have been reading is Kangaroos, and I have been learning a lot about them. One of the most surprising things I have learned is that joeys are ready to leave their mom at 20 months. One interesting thing I have learned is that all marsupials carry their babies in pouches. In addition, I am wondering how many kangaroos are left in the world and if you tried to pet a kangaroo it would bite you.

  14. There are some surprising and interesting fact in my Non fiction book Soccer Skills, but I am still wondering of some other facts.   15. The non-fiction book I am reading is Hernando Cortes Spanish Invader of Mexico. This is a book about Hernando Cortes Invading Mexico. I am wordering many things about Hernando Cortes. Some things I am wondering why did he go to Mexico at the first time,and how did he get to Mexico? Since I am reading the book,I am learning that he went to Mexico for gold, and another thing I learned was he had 500 soldiers and 20 ship that went to Cuba.

  16. There are many interesting and surprising things in my book about Muscles. One interesting thing I learned was when you blink, you are still moving muscles. Another interesting thing I learned is a scan helps you see your muscles, but the scan is really called an X-RAY. Whenever I read my book, I find some interesting facts, and one surprising thing I learned is an EMG tests your nerve damage.

  17. The non-fiction book I'm reading is Black Frontiers. There are many surprising, and interesting things in my book.One surprising thing in my book, is that Jim Beckwourth, would betray the Indians for the White army and he would also betray the White army for the Indians. Since I have been reading my book, there are many interesting things, like how the pioneers lived and also how the pioneers payed there household rent. Another surprising thing I learned was that the Pioneers would put there goats and cows on top of there roof to keep their feet warm during winter season.

  18. The nonfiction book I'm reading is Glaciers and I have been learning a lot about them. The most interesting thing I have learned is that glaciers grow one inch every day and the most surprising thing thing I learned is that it takes about one hundred years for a glacier to form. Somethings I've been wondering about glaciers are what is the biggest glacier in the world, what's its name, and where is it located? Glaciers is the nonfiction book I'm reading.

  19. The non-fiction book I've been reading is Canyons, and I am learning how canyons are formed and about the Grand Canyon. The most surprising thing I learned was that people are building dams to stop rivers to use the river's force for electricity, but it is hurting the formation of canyons. Another interesting thing I learned was that the Grand Canyon was formed in the Colorado Plateau. After reading my non-fiction book, I am wondering if people will still be hurting the formation of canyons by stopping more and different rivers? When I read my non-fiction book I learned a lot of interesting facts about canyons.

  20. My non-fiction book I'm reading is STORMS. In this book there are a lot of interesting and surprising things. The things that I've been learning about this book is that there are about 10 kinds of storms, and that there's about 16 million thunderstorms around the world each year. Since I'm reading about storms I'm wondering there is so much electricity in a thunderstorm, which is also one of the most powerful storms. The most surprising thing in my non-fiction book is that while there is a thunderstorm hail is falling down; it is really dangerous. The most interesting thing about hail is that it can grow as big as a football, and it could kill someone. Whenever there is a thunderstorm it can lead to a tornado, which can cause so much damage to that area. This book Storms is a very interesting book to read and to think about.

  21. There are some surprising and interesting things from my non-fiction book, Ruby Bridges, and there are still some things I'm wondering. Since I've been reading about Ruby Bridges, the most interesting thing that I read was that Ruby Bridges would go to school with white people even though they screamed bad words at her told, and instead of her talking back to them she would pray for them. One interesting thing that I learned was when Ruby Bridges was born her mom only had one day to rest because she had to go back to work. Although I've learning about Ruby Bridges, I'm still wondering some things. One thing that I'm wondering is why wouldn't Ruby Bridges talk back to the white when they told her bad stuff?

  22. There are many surprising interesting things in my non-fiction book A Head Of Notions, and there are still things that I am wondering about Robert Fulton. As I am reading A Head Of Notions, there are some interesting things that I am learning, and there are many surprising things in this book as well. The most interesting thing that I learned was that when Robert was 10 years old that is when the American Revaluation began, and everyone was very happy because they were going to have freedom. While I was in the middle of my novel, I saw some surprising things. One surprising thing that I saw was that Robert wanted to be a famous artist he loved to paint he would paint people and sell it to them everyone liked his work to. Some things that I am wondering is that at the end of the story how he is important to us.

  23. I've been learning surprising and interesting things in my non-fiction book Monk Seals. What I've been learning in my book is that there were 3 species and there's only 2 species left today. Since I'm reading a non-fiction book, there are a lot of surprising things like for example, now that there are fewer females, the males all rush to a female but they end up hurting or killing her and even the pup. Now that I've spent a lot of time reading my book I'm wondering how monk seals get away from their predators.

  24. There are many interesting things i am reading, William Shakespeare and the Globe. The thing that surprised is that William Shakespeare died on his 52nd birthday, and I was also surprised because after William died other play writers published his play's. The part that I am wondering about in the passages I have read are that if the Globe still has plays showing or the Globe may be a museum now. Another part in the book that got me interested is that the King actually encouraged the plays because, he once read a play that William Shakespeare wrote and he ended up liking it.
    That's why these are the most interesting parts in this book.

  25. The non-fiction book I am reading is Archimedes, and I have been learning a lot about them. The most surprising thing is that Archimedes invented geometry. Another interesting thing is I learned was that Archimedes has been studying the earth, sun, stars, and the moon. I been wondering about how Archimedes lost in the war?

  26. The non-fiction book I've been reading is Endangered Mountain Gorillas. When, I was reading my book, I learned that there are 5 kinds of gorillas. The most surprising thing I learned is that there are less than 380 mountain gorillas left. Although, I learned a lot, there are some things I am still wondering things.

  27. In the non-fiction book I'm reading The Aztecs. As I've been reading this book, I learned how they punish the boys by putting the boys over hot chilies while they are cooking. I have also learned that the Emperor lived with his children and many wives in the middle Tenochtitlan. Although the Empire was very strong, Hernan Cortes invaded Tenochtitlan.

  28. The non-fiction book I am reading is Come Back, Salmon, and there are some interesting and surprising things that I have read. While I am reading my non-fiction book, and when I was reading the non-fiction book something surprised me it was that the people that lived near by just through their trash in the river. Although people are throwing their trash in the river, the other thing that is hurting the salmon is the silt by the dirt falling from the hill. I was wondering that, where did the salmon go when the river was dirty?
